What the numbers mean.

The retainer

On representation it starts at €1,500 a month per principal. It pays the representative's floor so a good person can afford to work your territory before the commission arrives, and it pays for the data and the systems. It is not a fee for effort, and we are happy to set some or all of it against future commission if you would rather carry the risk that way.

The commission band

5 to 15 percent of net invoiced revenue. Where you land depends on three things: your gross margin, your average order size, and how much of the sale we carry. A technical product with a long cycle where we run everything sits near the top. A large repeat order that we introduced and you closed sits near the bottom. You will know your number before you sign.

Per qualified meeting

€150, and the definition of qualified is agreed in writing first. Not billed if they do not attend. Not billed if they were not who we said they were.

Infrastructure pass-through

€150 a month on every tier. Mailboxes, sending domains, data enrichment, the CRM and the outreach tools. Itemised, at cost, no markup. When the real cost drops the pass-through drops.

Travel

At cost, agreed before booking, with receipts. Vilnius is within a short flight of most German, Nordic and Dutch head offices, and of Riga, Tallinn and Helsinki, so most meetings are a day trip rather than an expense line worth arguing about.

What is never charged

  • No charge for the first call, the proposal, or the market sizing that comes with it
  • No charge per lead, per contact record, or per email sent
  • No commission on accounts you already held when we started, listed by name in the contract
  • No commission on inbound orders during a market entry engagement
  • No annual increase written into the contract

What this costs against the alternatives.

Worth doing honestly, because the comparison is not always in our favour.

Country manager employed in Lithuania Lithuania's national average gross wage was €2,628 a month in Q2 2026 and a senior B2B salesperson is well above that. The employer social charge is only 1.77 % of gross for a standard contract, so the total employer cost is close to the gross, but you also need an entity or an employer of record, plus a car, tools and management time. 3 to 6 months to hire, then 6 to 12 months to judge Full fixed cost regardless of result, plus the entity
DistributorNo fee. 20 to 40 % of the end price, permanently. Fast, if you find a good one You lose the customer relationship and the price

When does an agent pay for himself?

This is the question a managing director actually asks, and almost nobody in this trade answers it in public. Here is the arithmetic, using the German commercial agents' association's own published figures rather than ours.

CDH, the German federation of commercial agencies, reports for 2024 that the average German agency mediated €5.11 million of turnover and earned €389,097 in gross commission. That is a blended commission rate of about 7.6 %, which sits comfortably inside the 5 to 15 % band on this page. The same statistics say the average agency carries 4.6 principals and that 55.3 % of German agencies hold at least one foreign principal.

Apply that rate to our fee. A market development fee of €1,500 a month is €18,000 a year. At 7.6 %, it is repaid by roughly €237,000 of mediated turnover in the territory.

So the real question is not whether €1,500 a month is a lot. It is whether Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland together can absorb a quarter of a million euro of your product in a year. For most industrial manufacturers that is one or two orders. If the answer is clearly no, an agent is the wrong instrument and we will say so in the first call.

Figures from the CDH 2024 statistics as published by the federation. The blended rate is our arithmetic on their two numbers, not a rate they publish. Read 22 September 2026.
